Åndalsnes to Trollstigen - Norway (Day 4)

From the cabins, it was very close to get to the famous winding roads of the Trollstigen, but the cabin hosts had indicated that due to a film shooting that day, the roads maybe closed. We checked their fb page and it said the same thing. So, we were disappointed that we may have to forego that route, but we still decided to proceed there to whatever extent we were allowed.
That’s when we came to find out that the shooting of the film had started during the night and was completed in the early morning. We were one of the first few who were let into the road! It was an overcast day with rain and fog that is typical of Norway, apparently.
That atmosphere itself created a different feel to the entire drive. The winding roads up to the Stigfossen falls and the viewpoint from the falls in that rainy weather was beautiful to experience.
The continued drive to the visitor center was still a challenging drive and when we got there, it felt like a winter wonderland with ice from the winter still melting. From the visitor center parking lot, there was some trails to hike on, but given the weather conditions, we decided to do the most traversed path which took us to a much closer view of the Stigfossen from the top.
From here you could see the entire winding road of the Trollstigen that is nestled between tall mountains on all sides.
The visitor center itself is a wonderful contemporary building apt for that setting. It had a restaurant, of course and a hot soup for that atmosphere tasted really good!
Visitor center felt like a winter wonderland!
