Trondheim - Norway (Day 1)

Our short Norway sojourn started in Trondheim, which is known for its combination of history and hi-tech with its 11th century Cathedral, largest wooden royal residence in Scandinavia and hosting a University known for its expertise in high tech.
The very drive from Trondheim airport to the hotel gave an indication that the region is going to have a lot of tunnels. Had to go through 4 tunnels of different length to reach the city and the hotel. The hotel we chose was in the center of the city along the river Nidelven.
The buildings on both banks of the river have wonderful combination of exterior colors that provides for a photogenic reflection off the river. The view from ‘Old Town Bridge’ is the best spot that can be enhanced if you choose the right time of the day when the sun shines on the buildings to provide a beautiful reflection.
Another attraction that we walked to, is the Nidaros Cathedral. This cathedral has a long history as its original structure was started to being built more than 1000 years (ca 1070). The structure as it stands today had gone through a major restoration in early 19th century and the recent renovation is as late as in 2001. The Gothic style is still preserved.
